RSA House, London Wedding photography
Last Christmas I photographed Abi and Robin’s wedding at the RSA, John Adam’s Street, which is just off the Strand in central London. I have been lucky enough to have photographed here many times, as I have been an accredited photographer at the RSA for over 5 years now.
My coverage started with Abi at the Corinthia hotel on Whitehall, then we all drove to the RSA by taxi. Soon the guests were arriving and I positioned myself at a familiar spot to get some good angles of Abi’s arrival into the Benjamin Franklin ceremony room. After the ceremony, we went outside to shoot the large group shot of everyone on the steps to the back of the RSA. Although it was a little cold everyone was in good humour and soon sparklers were being waved around energetically, then instead of confetti guests threw fake snow at the couple which seemed to come as a surprise, to put it mildly.
Back in the warmth of the Benjamin Franklin room, we photographed more intimate groups against the fireplace and candles, which added a Christmas feel to the pictures. More champagne and canopies were served down in the vaults, while the attentive staff at the RSA turned the ceremony room around for the wedding breakfast. During this time I had the opportunity to photograph the couple in different rooms of the house, as by now it was too dark and cold to go outside.
This was a shorter coverage than usual for me, so after photographing the speeches it was soon time to pack up. I enjoy working at the RSA, the staff are always friendly and helpful and the surrounding busy London streets and Embankment gardens allow for creative shooting. I will be blogging more RSA shoots soon.
