St Alfege Church, Greenwich wedding photography

I was lucky enough to be shooting at St Alfege church in Greenwich again this month. David and Beverley chose this magnificent church to be married in, as this is where David’s parents were married some 50 years before. This was a small wedding with close family and friends attending; the evening meal was to take place at one of Greenwich’s best restaurant’s, The Spread Eagle.

I started shooting at the Hotel Ibis where Beverley was getting ready. The light was good as I shot portraits, between careful hair and make up arrangements applied by Beverley’s sister. Then it was a dash over the road to the church to shoot some pictures of guests and family arriving. The interiors of St Alfege church are quite magnificent. It’s easy not to always ‘see’ such details when shooting, I always try to slow myself down at a wedding to make sure details are included and to regain some photographic distance from the hurly burly of the day.

After the ceremony I took the couple to some of Greenwich’s famous landmarks. Despite the cold, Beverley and David were willing and gave me plenty of time to fully explore the potential within these shots. We photographed by the Cutty Sark and then wandered by the river for more pictures by the gates of Old Royal Naval College.

After warming up briefly with the wedding party at the Mitre pub, I went to the Spread Eagle restaurant to shoot some interior pictures of the the upstairs room which had been hired for the occasion. I felt welcomed on the day and David and Beverley are a warm and friendly couple who are easy to photograph; there’s was plenty of laughter throughout the day.

Here are a selection of pictures, I hope you enjoy looking through.
