RSA, London wedding photographer

London wedding photography at the RSA

I headed to The Strand for Joe and Juanita’s wedding at The Royal Society of Arts. As an accredited supplier I am very familiar with this venue.

My reportage began with shots of Juanita as her make-up was applied and her hair styled.  I took advantage of the soft light diffusing through the blinds to photograph this private moment, and once the bride was ready, I headed downstairs to get in position for her descent into the Vaults.

The Vaults offer quite a contrast to the contemporary feel of the rooms above and pose a challenge photographically, since there is no natural light available.  Bouncing the flash and using a wide angle lens, I was able to achieve a good perspective of the room.  Then, using a portrait lens, I worked closer to the couple and their guests to capture expressions.

Once married, Joe, Juanita and I left the party via John Adam Street to Embankment Gardens for portraits.  There is something interesting about taking images in a public space.  Whilst, traditionally, photographs tend to focus on the couple, I like to incorporate the colour of daily life into my compositions, mixing together the mundane and the unusual.

It was then back to the Vaults for the wedding breakfast.  As is usual at this stage of the day, trust is established between myself and the wedding party, and, consequently, the really good shots began to reveal themselves. So, weaving amongst tables I continued documenting Joe and Juanita’s day, and once speeches had finished, my short coverage was complete.

Here are some of the images:
